Tamara Rubilar’s work explores art embroidery pieces between the decorative objects and fashion embellishment. Through research and development of a personal language, she uses traditional textile techniques in order to create works that express aesthetic beauty, savoir-faire and the richness of luxurious materials.
Tamara Rubilar works as a freelance designer in textile embellishment and art embroidery for high end fashion, costume, interior design. She has worked for clients as for Opera de Montreal, Cirque du Soleil, Disney, and Grands Ballets canadiens.
After graduating from the Montreal Center for contemporary textiles in 2014, she continued her training in art embroidery in Europe at the renowned school Lesage Paris, and the Royal School of Needlework in London. Having lived in Spain for two years, she learned spanish goldwork technique in Sevilla and worked with fashion designers in Madrid. Throughout her career, she participated in group and solo exhibitions in Montreal, France and Spain.
In 2019, she founded Studio textile Montreal, where she gives art embroidery workshops, and makes custom orders. She also teaches at the Montreal Center for contemporary textiles.
